Being a Mum
Roots and Wings
"There are two lasting things we give our children.
One is Roots (to grow) and the other is Wings (to fly)."
I do not know whom it's from, but I saw this quote in the train one
day years ago and I thought this was so lovely and so true and I promised
that one day when I will have my own child, I will do my best to follow
it. ROOTS: make sure they know where they are from and where they belong
to - especially in difficult times in life; WINGS: make sure that they
will grow as a autonomous and independent strong adults.
It is sooooo lovely to be a Mum: challenging, demanding, time consuming, sometime lot of stress but above all it is a lot of fun and satisfaction!
Since the first day when I found out that I was pregnant I knew I will have to rearrange everything in my life and set other priorities. Nothing would be spontaneous any more and my social life would be limited but not eliminated. And always having this in mind I was more than ready to take this challenge.
Zinah definitely is my first priority, I DO LOVE her from the bottom of my heart and she is my EVERYTHING and I would do everything for her to be happy, comfortable, to be fine and healthy BUT for this to work I need to be happy as well and look after myself to feel comfortable - meaning I do need a life every now and then as well. And I think that my time management skills is improving with every day and every challenge. I have learned with time to enjoy my spare time as I learned that there is much more then cleaning the house and taking care of the grocery when you are "off" :-).
Even if some people think that I returned back 'early' to work (Zinah was not even 6 months old) I enjoy every single second of her rapid development of her first years. She is now almost 2 and surprises me every day with something new!
For sure the best thing about being a Mum is to be rewarded with a big smile on Zinah's face: I know then that she loves me as unconditionally as I do and that everything is worth it!!!
