For me true Friendship is an in-depth relationship
combined with trust, support, communication (talking and listening), loyalty,
understanding, intimacy, eventually forgiveness, being comfortable and
relaxed, being yourself. What I think is very important as well is that
you must be a friend to have one. It is a mutual thing. Friendship
requires meeting the needs of both friends.
Sometimes it takes time to build Friendships, sometimes it happens
just on first sight.
Even if it is hard at times (because of the distance, the situation, the job, the family etc.) I am trying to not neglect my Friends. Even if sometimes I am acting like a stranger, I am always thinking about my Friends. As often as I can I am trying to keep in touch by sending e-mail, call whenever I can make it. The same way, I really do appreciate my Friends who every now and then give me a call or send me an e-mail to check on me.
Sometimes it happens in Friendships that there is a conflict, sometimes smaller ones, sometimes bigger ones - errors are inevitable: one make them but it is important to learn from them and then to progress. Conflicts must be resolved for Friendships to continue and that's where it is important to be able to communicate. But sometimes a "cooling-off-period" is good to "resolve" the conflict.
I am thankful for every Friend I have - or had.
Each in their own way enriched my life. You will always been remembered and loved.
